Dog Days of Summer

ahh... it's the long, lingering dog days of summer. I love this time, especially in the early months. We're suppose to hit 90 degrees this week. It's not even summer yet, but I digress...

I know this expression has nothing to actually do with me painting dogs but I can't help myself. When I think of the dog days I go 'o so litter(al) and paint dogs. Can't go wrong with painting a dog or two right?

I think part of my inspiration comes from there being new dogs in the hood.We are almost surrounded by dogs now. Well, kind of. Casey (a female mutt) just moved in across the street from us, and Landon (a male lab) just moved in and is kitty corner. It's so nice visiting both of these doggies. They're so sweet. Casey wont let her owner get out of her site, and Landon now walks with a limp after an accident. poor baby...

For now I'm calling these "mutt shots" inspired by dogs, summer, art festivals and lingering in the shade.
