"Don't bother, it's just art", and this is
just what it does for people.

"... and for creating 'Spirit Woman'. She looks over me as I work, where I can connect with her eyes. Her hands remind me to carry myself gently. Thank you..." — Phyllis

I've had people purchase paintings from me with their Social Security checks. I was worried about this when and a friend said to me "she's feeding her soul".

"...when I brought the painting home I set it up on the chair at the dinner table, just like a welcome guest. Now she's at the perfect spot where she can be enjoyed all the time. I say hello when I come in, good night with a kiss, and have tea with her in the morning. Love looking at her from all angles and from a distance..." —Brian
So, what does art do for people?
It stirs creativity and imagination. It's calming and thought-provoking. It's why they put it in high-tech companies where engineers work. It's why it's all over hospital walls. It's not about adding color, it's about feeding souls and stirring imagination. It makes us feel good. It helps one think creatively. It's used in therapy to help people express themselves.
So, where did that 'it's just art' comment come from? It was a man standing on my driveway, looking at my art and commenting to the person on the other end of the cell phone line. Too bad he thinks that.
